Inventory sync decides how far your Clover items and your WooCommerce products keep each other up to date. One setting controls it, and the same setting decides whether your online sales are counted against your Clover items in Clover sales reports.

The setting lives in your WordPress admin under WeeConnectPay → Settings (also reachable from WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → WeeConnectPay), in the Inventory tab. It is called Sync mode, and the plugin describes it there as "How far stock syncing between Clover and WooCommerce goes. Applies to linked products only, and no mode can block a payment." Inventory sync needs WeeConnectPay plugin version 4.8.0 or newer.

Three things that are true in every mode

No mode can block a payment. The sync setting shapes stock and reporting only. If something about a product cannot be verified when a sale happens, the sale goes through normally and that line simply is not counted against a Clover item.

Only linked products take part. A product you have not linked to a Clover item is untouched by every mode. Linking is covered in Linking your products, and how linked sales appear in Clover.

Sync only ever writes stock. Names, prices, descriptions and tax settings on your products and your Clover items are never changed by a sync mode. On a linked product, the first stock count that arrives also switches WooCommerce stock management on for that product so the count can be used.

The four modes

Mode What it does
Off (the default) "Nothing syncs. Clover will not know which item a web sale was for, and stock stays exactly as you set it on both sides."
Preview only "A rehearsal. Each order reports what syncing would have done, without changing anything on either side. Use it to check your links before you turn sync on."
Follow Clover "Clover holds the real count and your website follows it. A paid web order tells Clover which item sold, so Clover updates its own stock and sales reports."
Two-way "Everything Follow Clover does, plus counts you edit in WooCommerce are copied back to Clover. Sales are not copied back, because Clover already counts those itself."

Those four descriptions are the ones shown beside each mode on the Inventory tab. Off carries a Default badge: a store that has never opened the setting is on Off.

What each mode leaves alone

Mode What it does not do
Off Moves no stock in either system, and your web sales stay unattributed in Clover reporting.
Preview only Reports only. It attaches nothing to your Clover orders and moves no stock, so differences between the two systems are expected while you are in it.
Follow Clover Stock edits you make in WooCommerce stay in WooCommerce. They are not copied to Clover.
Two-way Stock movements caused by orders are never copied to Clover, because Clover already counts your web sales itself.

Which plan each mode needs

Off and Preview only are included with every plan. Follow Clover and Two-way are the stock-moving modes and need the Advanced plan. The Inventory tab states it as "Stock-moving modes need the Advanced plan. Off and Preview only stay free.", and each locked mode carries its own note: "Follow Clover needs the Advanced plan. Off and Preview only stay free. Your choice is saved either way."

Advanced costs $79.95 a month, in USD for United States merchants and in CAD for Canadian merchants, and charges the same $0.10 per payment as Standard, so the monthly amount is the only part of your statement that changes. You pick it in the Clover App Market, and Which WeeConnectPay plan do I need compares it against the other plans.

Beside that note sits I've upgraded: re-check my plan, which makes the setting pick your plan up again right away instead of waiting.

When a stock-moving mode is running as Off

Your pick is always saved, even when your plan does not include it. While that is the case, sync runs as Off and both surfaces say so in the same words.

In the plugin, on the Inventory tab:

"Stock sync is paused: Follow Clover needs the Advanced plan. Your choice is saved and picks up again as soon as your plan includes it."

In your WeeConnectPay dashboard, on the Inventory page:

"The Pull stock sync mode you picked requires the Advanced subscription tier, so inventory sync is currently running as Off."

Both messages name the mode you picked. The dashboard uses its own names for the same four modes: Off, Observe, Pull stock and Two-way are what the plugin calls Off, Preview only, Follow Clover and Two-way.

Sales attribution also depends on your transaction mode

Telling Clover which item a web sale was for rides the order WeeConnectPay creates on Clover, so it happens on the Order and charge transaction mode. On the other transaction modes the plugin shows: "Stock sync needs Order and charge. On your current mode, online sales do not update Clover stock and are not counted in Clover sales reports."

Linked products still follow Clover stock under Follow Clover and Two-way whatever your transaction mode is.

Changing your mode

Picking a different mode takes effect on the next order and the next stock check. Nothing is migrated or replayed, and no historical order is changed. Moving down to Off leaves both systems holding exactly the counts they hold at that moment.

If you are not sure which mode fits your store, Preview only reports what the other modes would have done without moving anything. Questions about your own store? Email support@weeconnectpay.com and we can look at what your orders actually did.
