A link says "this WooCommerce product is this Clover item". Links are what inventory sync works on: an unlinked product never takes part, whatever your sync mode is, and a linked one can follow Clover stock and be named in Clover's sales reports when it sells online.

Links are managed in your WordPress admin under WeeConnectPay → Settings → Inventory, in the Product linking section. Your WeeConnectPay dashboard shows the same links read-only, on its Inventory page.

Linking is always your decision

The plugin looks for products and Clover items that share an identical SKU and offers them as suggestions. The section states the rule plainly: "Matching SKUs only suggest a link; you decide what gets linked. Variable products link per variation."

  • Link one product at a time by choosing its Clover item from the list.
  • Or use Re-link exact matches, in the Recovery section further down the same tab, which links every exact SKU match at once. The button names the count it is about to link.
  • A link is kept against the Clover item itself, so a product keeps its link when you rename it.
  • Refresh from Clover, also in the Recovery section, re-reads your Clover items when you have just created or changed something there.

Status What it means What to do
Linked Healthy. This product takes part in sync and in sales attribution. Nothing.
SKU mismatch The SKUs on the two sides no longer agree. Correct the SKU on either side so they match again, or relink the product.
Clover item deleted The linked item was deleted in Clover. Relink the product to a live Clover item, or remove the link.
WooCommerce product deleted The product behind the link is gone from your store. Link the replacement product, or remove the entry.

Only a Linked row takes part. Everything else is inactive, and none of it affects your payments.

A product in the WooCommerce trash keeps its link: "Nothing is blocked and the Clover links are kept. Restore a product to keep using its link, or unlink it below if the removal is final."

If your store was connected to a different Clover account before, some products can still carry references to that account's items. The panel offers to clear them and explains exactly what that touches: "Clearing the references removes only our own marks: your products keep their name, price, stock and tax settings, and nothing in Clover is changed."

A Clover item applies its own tax rates to every sale of that item. So a linked pair only counts an online sale against the Clover item when the item's rates and the product's rates describe the same taxes. When they do not, the row is paused and says why:

Badge What it means
Paused: tax rates differ "Sales are not counted against this Clover item and its stock is not syncing, because their taxes do not match. Clover applies [the item's rates]; this product uses [the product's rates]. Change the product's tax class, link the rates on the Taxes tab, or change the item's taxes in Clover."
Paused: tax rate link missing "Sales are not counted against this Clover item and its stock is not syncing, because one of its tax rates is not linked yet. Clover applies [the item's rates]; this product uses [the product's rates]. Nothing is wrong on either side, a link is just missing. Add it on the Taxes tab."
Paused: tax setup unconfirmed "This Clover item's taxes could not be confirmed yet, so sales are not counted against it and its stock is not syncing. Refreshing from Clover usually sorts it out."

The three routes out are yours to choose between, and each one changes something:

  • Add the missing tax rate link on the plugin's Taxes tab. This is the one that changes nothing else, and it is the whole answer whenever the badge says a link is missing.
  • Change the product's tax class in WooCommerce so its rates match the item's. This changes what that product charges your online customers.
  • Change the item's tax rates in Clover so they match the product's. Those same rates apply when you sell the item at your Clover register, so this changes your in-store taxation too.

Leaving a pause in place is a safe choice. Your customers are taxed correctly at checkout either way, because WooCommerce calculates the tax and WeeConnectPay reports it with the payment. What a pause costs is the item-level part: the sale is reported without naming the Clover item, and that product stops taking its count from Clover on the hourly check. The units it sells online are still deducted from the Clover item after the payment lands, on Follow Clover and Two-way, so your Clover count keeps following your sales.

Stores that charge different tax rates per province are the common case here. A WooCommerce tax class holds a row per province and picks the right one for each customer, while a Clover item applies its rates to every sale, so the two can describe the same product without ever matching as sets. That is a difference between the platforms rather than a setting to fix, and doing nothing is a reasonable answer.

How a linked sale appears in Clover

When an online order is paid on the Order and charge transaction mode, with the sync mode at Follow Clover or Two-way, each linked line is sent as that Clover item. In your Clover reporting, the sale then shows up as a real item sale on that item, in the same item sales figures your in-store sales feed, and Clover deducts the units from the item's own stock.

Lines that are not linked, or that are paused, still reach Clover. They appear under the product name that was on the order rather than as one of your Clover items, so they carry no stock or category of their own.

One thing worth knowing when you reconcile: a fully returned order drops out of Clover's revenue view rather than showing there as a zero.

The note WooCommerce adds when lines were not matched

If some lines on a paid order could not be counted against their Clover items, the order gets a note in WooCommerce that starts with the reassurance first:

"Some items on this order were not matched to Clover inventory." followed by "The payment and order totals are correct and unaffected."

When the cause is the item's own taxes, the note adds: "The linked Clover item(s) for [item names] apply their own taxes in Clover, so online sales cannot be counted against them. No change to the product links can fix this, and their stock sync stays paused to keep counts correct."

For anything else, it adds: "One or more products could not be checked against their linked Clover items, so Clover was not told which items those lines were for. Review the product links in the WeeConnectPay settings to restore stock sync and sales reporting for them."

Before you turn sync on

Preview only exists for exactly this moment: it checks every order's products against their links and reports what would have happened, without changing anything on either side. When the statuses look right, move up to Follow Clover or Two-way.
