WeeConnectPay adds a payment method to the store you already run. This article describes exactly what that means in practice: where your customers pay, where their card details go, and what happens to your orders. The specifics below describe the WooCommerce plugin.

Customers pay on your own checkout

The card payment option appears on your store's own checkout page, alongside your other payment methods. Your customer fills in the card fields and places the order without being sent to another website and without coming back from one. This works on the classic WooCommerce checkout and on the WooCommerce Checkout Blocks checkout.

Google Pay is available as an additional express option on the classic checkout when you turn it on in the plugin settings.

Because checkout stays on your site, your checkout page, your theme, your cart rules, and your order confirmation flow are all still yours. WeeConnectPay contributes the payment step inside them.

Card details go directly to Clover

The card number, expiry, and security code fields on your checkout are not your store's fields. They are secure payment fields hosted by Clover and loaded directly from Clover onto the page. Your customer types into Clover's fields, and the card details are exchanged with Clover for a payment token.

What your store receives back is that token, plus truncated card details such as the card brand and a partial card number for your own reference on the order. The full card number is never handled by your store's code and is never written to your store's database. As our published privacy policy puts it, we never store, process, or have access to raw card numbers.

Your orders stay your store's records

Every order is a WooCommerce order. WeeConnectPay writes the payment outcome onto that order: the charge details are saved with the order, and order notes record what happened, including refunds and returns.

Everything the plugin keeps lives in your WordPress settings and on the orders themselves. It adds nothing of its own to the rest of your store's data, which is why removing it leaves that data as it was.

Clover keeps its own record of each payment on your Clover account, which is what your Clover reporting shows. The two records describe the same payment from each side.

What happens if the plugin is removed

Deleting the plugin removes what belongs to the plugin, and nothing else:

Removed on uninstall Stays in place
Your Clover connection and its credentials Your orders and their order notes
Your transaction mode, your payment method choices, and your fraud protection options The payment details saved on each order
Your tax rate links, on plugin 4.4.0 and newer, and your product links, on 4.8.0 and newer Your products, customers, and store settings
The plugin's own WordPress options Your Clover account, its payment records, and its reporting

Debug log files, if you ever turned debug mode on, are written to your WordPress uploads folder and are left there when the plugin is removed.

The WeeConnectPay app on your Clover account is a separate thing from the plugin on your store. Removing the plugin from WordPress does not uninstall that app, and it does not change your Clover App Market plan or end the monthly subscription that comes with the Standard plan. Uninstalling the app on your Clover account is its own step, and what we charge is covered in WeeConnectPay fees on your Clover statement. Email support@weeconnectpay.com if you want a hand with it.

Reinstalling later means connecting to Clover again and choosing your settings again, since those are exactly the pieces the uninstall clears. Your order history is untouched throughout.
