The reassuring part first, because it is the part people ask about: your orders, your payment history, and the money already taken all stay exactly where they are. Removing the plugin is a change to your site's configuration, not to your records.

What follows is what each of the three actions actually does.

Deactivate: the reversible one

Deactivating the plugin from your WordPress Plugins screen stops it running. WeeConnectPay disappears from your checkout and from your WooCommerce payment methods list while it is deactivated. It also stops the plugin's scheduled background work: the daily tax link check, the debug log cleanup, and the inventory link and stock checks.

Nothing is removed. Your connection to Clover and every plugin setting stay stored on the site. Activating the plugin again picks up exactly where it left off and re-schedules the background work.

Delete: the one that clears the site's settings

Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen runs its cleanup routine, which removes what the plugin had stored on your site:

  • Your connection to Clover, for every environment the site has ever been connected to.
  • Your transaction mode, your business type, and the record that you finished the setup wizard, so the wizard runs again next time.
  • Google Pay, Clover order printing, and the recurring order printing switch.
  • Postal Code Verification, Honeypot Fields, and every Google reCAPTCHA setting, including the site key, secret key, and threshold.
  • Your WooCommerce tax rate links to Clover, and your WooCommerce to Clover product links.
  • Debug mode and the setting that clears your debug logs on a schedule.
  • The plugin's own record of this site, and the WeeConnectPay entry in your WooCommerce payment gateway options.

Your existing debug log files are an exception. They live in your WordPress uploads folder rather than in the plugin folder, so deleting the plugin leaves them where they are.

What stays, whatever you do

In your store. Every WooCommerce order keeps everything: its items, its totals, its notes, its refunds, and the WeeConnectPay payment records attached to it. Those records live on the order itself, which is why the WeeConnectPay Charges panel on the order edit page reappears intact once the plugin is active again.

In Clover. Every payment, refund, and report in your Clover account is untouched. Deleting a WordPress plugin removes it from WordPress; the WeeConnectPay app on your Clover account is a separate thing and stays installed.

Your Clover account itself. Your merchant account, your devices, and your Clover employees are all unaffected.

Reinstall: what comes back and what you redo

Install and activate the plugin again and it registers its default settings, then behaves like a fresh install of a store that already has history.

Comes back on its own You do it again
The WeeConnectPay Charges panel on every past order, reading the records already stored there Signing in with Clover from WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → WeeConnectPay
Your WooCommerce orders, customers, and reports, which never left Answering the setup wizard, which runs again on a reinstalled plugin
Your Clover payment history and reporting Your transaction mode, your order printing choices, and your tax rate and product links
The WeeConnectPay app on your Clover account Your fraud protection choices and your Google Pay choice

Set up WeeConnectPay for WooCommerce walks the whole path, and the wizard asks the same questions it asked the first time.

The in-plugin alternative to deleting

If your goal is to clear the connection or the settings rather than remove the plugin, the plugin does both itself. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → WeeConnectPay, open the Advanced tab, and find Disconnect this store under Connection. The section sums the two buttons up: "Logout keeps your settings for when you reconnect. Full reset also erases every plugin setting on this site."

Logout, keep settings disconnects from Clover and holds on to your configuration. It asks "Disconnect from Clover and keep settings?" and tells you what survives: "Your payment preferences (printing, fraud protection, etc.) will be remembered when you reconnect." Confirm with Yes, disconnect. Your tax rate links and product links are rebuilt after you reconnect.

Full reset… goes further, and its confirmation says so: "Erase all WeeConnectPay settings on this site?" followed by "All settings including your preferences and links will be permanently removed. You will need to reconfigure everything after reconnecting. This cannot be undone." Confirming it means clicking Yes, erase everything.

Neither one touches your orders or your Clover history.

If something looks missing after a reinstall

Reconnect first: most of what looks absent on a freshly reinstalled plugin is waiting on the sign-in. What "disconnected" means, and how to reconnect covers that in a couple of minutes.

If a past order still looks incomplete after the store is connected again, email support@weeconnectpay.com with the order number and we will trace what was recorded for that payment.
