Every payment your store takes through WeeConnectPay is created on your own Clover merchant account. Clover authorizes the card, settles the payment, and pays you out under the merchant agreement you have with Clover. WeeConnectPay never receives, holds, or forwards your money.
That single fact answers most questions about timing and amounts: if you are asking when a payment lands in your bank account or what was deducted from it, the answer lives in your Clover account, not in WeeConnectPay.
Who does what
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Your store | Builds the cart, collects the card details, and records the order. |
| WeeConnectPay | Creates the payment on your Clover merchant account on your behalf, records the result, and shows it in your WeeConnectPay dashboard. |
| Clover | Authorizes the card with the card networks, settles the payment, takes its own processing fees, and pays out to your bank. |
WeeConnectPay is the connection between the first two. The money itself only ever travels between the customer's card issuer and your Clover merchant account.
Three moments in the life of a payment
Authorization. The customer's card issuer approves the amount. This is the moment your store learns the payment succeeded and marks the order paid. On the Hold and charge later transaction mode, authorization places a hold instead, and the money is collected when you capture the payment later.
Settlement. Clover settles payments in a batch rather than one payment at a time, and closes that batch out on its own schedule. Whether a given payment has settled depends on when it was taken relative to that closeout, and the settlement state is visible in your Clover account.
Payout. Clover deposits settled funds to the bank account on your Clover merchant agreement, on the schedule that agreement sets.
The gap between authorization and settlement matters in one place: a line-item return sent on the Order and charge transaction mode before the payment has settled can come back as a full void of the payment. Refunds, voids, and returns covers that case and what to check afterwards.
Where to look for what
| Question | Where the answer is |
|---|---|
| Did this payment go through, and for how much? | Your WeeConnectPay dashboard, in the Transactions list, and the WeeConnectPay panel on the order in your store. |
| Why did this payment not go through? | Your WeeConnectPay dashboard: open the transaction and read the Why this payment did not go through block. See When a payment is declined. |
| When was this payment settled, and when is it paid out? | Your Clover account. Settlement and deposit records are Clover's, and WeeConnectPay does not duplicate them. |
| What did Clover deduct in processing fees? | Your Clover account and your Clover merchant agreement. |
| What did WeeConnectPay charge me? | Your Clover statement, and the Subscription section of the Account page in your WeeConnectPay dashboard. See WeeConnectPay fees on your Clover statement. |
A note on amounts
The amount WeeConnectPay records for a payment is the amount that was actually processed on the card. Clover's processing fees are taken on Clover's side, so the figure deposited in your bank account is that amount minus what your Clover merchant agreement provides for. Comparing a WeeConnectPay transaction total against a bank deposit total will differ for that reason, and because a deposit usually covers a batch of payments rather than one.
If a payment appears in your WeeConnectPay dashboard and you cannot find it in your Clover account, email support@weeconnectpay.com with the order number and the date, and we will trace what was sent to Clover for that payment.
